Congratulations to all the children who participated in the Soccer Field Day. The boys A-team just missed the final finishing a credible 3rd place. The boys B-team won their competition. The girls team came first too! The players of the day were Seth Stylianou, Josiah Tavita and Chelsea Doughty.

We have had a visit from Heritage Bikes this week. The children have seen a range of bicycles and have learnt about the history of bikes and bike safety.

Welcome back!
We hope you have had a fantastic break and are ready for another busy term.

Winter Hours
* A reminder that our Winter Hours have started for Term 2 and 3. We have a shorter lunch break (12.30-1.15pm) and finish school at 2.45pm. Children who would normally be picked up at 3pm by their parents can wait in the library until then.

Stationery
* This would be a good time to check on your child’s stationery and see if some top ups are needed: pens (blue and red), pencils, rubber, sharpener, ruler and perhaps even a glue stick.

Absent Children
* It is important that we are aware if children are away from school. It would be most helpful if you could either email us or text us first thing in the morning (or the night before) and we will relay the information to Cara in the office
* Leanne - (021) 2642141.
* Ray – (021) 1318169
If this is not possible, please ring the school office *8346909

Year 6 Home Learning Challenge
* Well done to those of you who have completed challenges and are well on your way to being awarded your Bronze Award!
* Remember you must complete five challenges: one from each section to win an award!
* Please find another copy of the Home Learning Challenge attached with this newsletter.

Literacy
* The students’ reading and writing will continue be tailored to their individual levels, with the reading groups using a range of suitable texts and encouragement to use the library. The writing groups will focus on working towards being a Level Three/Four writer and working on various skills to help them achieve this. As always, we strongly encourage regular reading practice at home.

Mathematics
* In the Mana Syndicate, we will continue using the Prime Maths Programme where we have grouped the children according to their needs.

Inquiry
* This terms topic is titled “I am an Historian” If you are able to help in any way, please let us know. We would love books, artifacts, demonstrations or experts to come and talk to the children. Thanks in advance!

Flexi Day
* Our Flexi Day is Tuesday. On this day we have Library, P.E. and ICT.
Mrs Siaki will be taking both classes for ICT and Mr Chen will take both classes for P.E.

Parents and caregivers, please feel free to pop into the classroom anytime and check out what your wonderful children have been learning. We have an open door policy and welcome your help and support.

Thank you in advance
Leanne Siaki and Ray Chen
