Please return Rainbows End Permission Slips and Photo Money Envelopes ASAP.

Dear Parents/caregivers,

On Monday 4th December, Rooms 26/27 will be going to Rainbows End. This trip will be a fun day for the children to spend together before they head off to various schools for Intermediate. Taking into account the camp refund, this trip will cost $10.

We will be leaving by car at approximately 9.10. The park is open at 10am. We would love to make the most of the day so if we can, we would like to return to school at 4pm. If children have after school commitments that requires them to be back by 3pm, please indicate below and we will have a car leave earlier for them.

We would love some parents to help with transport to and from Rainbows End. We can cover the entrance for these parents – please indicate your preference below whether you would want to ride or spectate.

Once we have worked out our numbers, we will be in touch to confirm our parent help. (Preference will be given to parents who can transport larger numbers and/or those who would prefer to spectate- as this is a cheaper option for us to cover.) Parent help will also need to be police vetted.

We ask that each person bring a small plate of food for us to have a shared lunch.

Please sign the form and return to school as soon as possible so we can confirm our booking.

Thanks in advance
Leanne Siaki and Ray Chen

2017 Reverse Advent Calendar

This year Matipo are going to count down to the end of school by doing a Reverse Advent Calendar. The idea of this is that each day we will donate something to charity in preparation for Christmas. We have decided to donate to Care Waitakere who make up Christmas hampers for families in need in West Auckland.

How It Will Work:
Each member of the class will be allocated a date. On this date you will bring in your contribution and add it to the special box in the classroom. On the last day of school we will deliver it to Care Waitakere.
If this is not something that you would like to be involved in or cannot contribute, please let the teacher know and we can sort something out.

Welcome back!
We hope you have had a fantastic break and are ready for the last term.

Summer Hours
* A reminder that our Summer Hours start up again, with a normal lunch break (12.30-1.30pm) and we finish school at 3pm.

* We require all students to wear a hat when outdoors in Term 4, during all breaks and PE lessons.

Absent Children
* It is important that we are aware if children are away from school. It would be most helpful if you could either email us or text us first thing in the morning (or the night before) and we will relay the information to the office
* Leanne - (021) 2642141. * Ray – (021) 1318169
If this is not possible, please ring the school office *8346909
* Please send a note if your child is unable to participate in our daily fitness programme.

*Some children are desperate for top ups on their stationery. These could include: pens (blue and red), pencils, rubber, sharpener, ruler and perhaps even a glue stick.

Literacy and Numeracy
* The students’ reading and writing will continue be tailored to their individual levels, with the reading groups using a range of suitable texts and encouragement to use the library. As always, we strongly encourage regular reading practice at home.
* We will continue using the Prime Maths Programme where we have grouped the children according to their needs.

* This terms topic is “I am a Scientist” Each class will be choosing a different focus over the term chosen from questions children have posed. If you are able to help in any way, please let us know. We would love experts to come and talk to the children or even offer demonstrations. Thanks in advance!
